Donna Elaine Cameron, 71, of Midville, GA passed away on January 10, 2022, following a brief illness.
Elaine was born in Clarksville, TN on May 15, 1950, to the late Orman Terry and Earlene Gibson Ford of Clarksville, TN. In 1972, she moved to Winder, GA, where she raised her family. Over the years, she was a member of the Winder, Campus View, Bogart, and Central Oconee churches of Christ. Her kind, gentle, and determined spirit brought her through many trials, and also provided encouragement and comfort to others.
She took great pride in her role as a homemaker for many years. As her children got older, she embarked on a career with Barrow County School Nutrition. She found great joy in cooking for others and built lasting friendships with her coworkers. She was well-known for her skill in the kitchen, particularly as a baker. In addition, Elaine was a talented seamstress who also enjoyed needlework. She crocheted many special blankets as gifts for new babies.
Growing up a city girl, she never imagined she would become the primary caretaker for the family's herd of beef cattle, even managing many of the necessary tasks as her children became involved in showing cattle. Elaine's lifelong love for animals made the lifestyle a natural fit for her.
When her grandsons were born, she relocated to Midville, GA to be close to them. She became an active member of Midville First Baptist Church, serving as church clerk and gracing the choir with her beautiful singing voice.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Ford of Greensboro, NC; and her father-in-law, Paul E. Cameron, of Bowman, GA, who cared deeply for her.
Surviving are her son, Timothy Cameron of Winder; daughter, Terri Black (John) of Millen; two beloved grandsons, Samuel Black and Henry Black; and a "sister," Mary Weakley of Clarksville, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midville First Baptist Church, PO Box 408, Midville, Georgia 30441, and designated for A/V upgrades in support of the worship and music ministries. You may also donate to your local animal shelter.
