Don Byron King, 50, entered into rest on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Augusta University Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Emanuel County to the late Don Henry King and Edna Cook and was a longtime resident of Waynesboro. He was a graduate of Hahnville High School in Boutte, LA and Academy of Hair Technology in Greenville, SC. Byron was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in Desert Storm. He was a free spirited, fun loving, sweet, and caring person. He loved animals but loving his family was at the top of his list. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Lucille Kilpatrick; and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Ruth King.
He is survived by his grandfather, Glen Kilpatrick of Waynesboro; a brother, Rodney Parker of Waynesboro; two uncles, John Parker (Nancy) of Waynesboro and Robert Taylor King (Judy) of Grovetown; seven aunts, Jackie Eskew (Charles), Cathy Capley both of Waynesboro, Sylvia Ann Durden, Sandra Kay Thompson (Robert), Gwendolyn Faye Paradise all of Swainsboro, Katherine Nell Cammack (Dean), and Lora Montez French both of Richmond Hill; a niece, Nicole Smith (Ryan) of Waynesboro; two great nieces, Adalynn Overton and Amelia Smith; a great nephew, Ryan W. Smith; stepfather, George E. Cook of Lancaster, OH; a stepsister, Laura Ogden of Lancaster, OH; two stepbrothers, William Cook (Latisha) of Waynesboro and Glen Cook of Jacksonville, FL; and many cousins.
Graveside Services will be held 1:00pm Saturday, January 14 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
