Waynesboro, GA- DeRossie DeLaigle, Sr., husband of Joan Wells DeLaigle, received his crown of righteousness on May 1, 2014 at his home after an extended illness. He was a man of faith and was a wonderful and devoted husband for 60 years to the love of his life. He was devoted to his family and was a farmer. Even with Alzheimer's, he was still farming. DeRossie was a fabulous father and Papa to many in his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Jack and Mollie O. DeLaigle, and a brother, Fred H. DeLaigle.
In addition to his wife, he leaves great values and memories with his family, children, Lynn Jarman (Wayne), and DeRossie DeLaigle, Jr. (Tasha); brother-in-law, Roy Wells (Linda); a special niece, Linda Ellison (John); grandchildren, Adina Flakes (Travis), Shenae Pulliam (Thomas), Kesley Hudson, Christina DeLaigle, Jimmy DeLaigle, Jennifer DeLaigle, DeRossie DeLaigle III (Sara), and Briana DeLaigle; great-grandchildren, Marcus Hudson, Kaylee Hudson, Emmett Hudson, Brodie Hudson, Zackery Lagman, Ariel Roberts, Jolie Lagman, Gabrielle Flakes, Aldon Pulliam, Adilyn Pulliam, Jocelin Pulliam, DeRossie DeLaigle IV, Logan DeLaigle, Savana DeLaigle, Quentin Weeks, Jr., and Jackson LaForest; brothers, Jack DeLaigle (Mary), Allen DeLaigle (Caroline), Avner DeLaigle (Carolyn); sister-in-law, Genee D. Barnes; and many other family members.
The family will receive friends 4-6pm Sunday, May 4 at the funeral home.
The celebration of his life will be 3pm Monday, May 5 at Botsford Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen DeLaigle, Jr., Jay DeLaigle, Nathan DeLaigle, Shane Dement, Ben Ellison, Joshua Harkins, Chad Smith, and Mark Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Hickman, Dean Ellison, Ernest Quick, Bill Lively, James Flakes, Randy Scott, and Deacons of Botsford Baptist Church.
The family wants to express special thanks to JoAnn Crumbley, Mae Frances Dukes, Mae Francis Powell, and Tonia Hurshman for their love and compassion taking care of Papa and also to University Home Health and Hospice..
