Waynesboro, GA. - Clarence E. Ganus, Jr., 71, entered into rest Sunday, March 14th, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, GA. Born on Jan. 18th, 1939 in Matthews, GA., he was a son of the late Clarence E. Ganus, Sr., and Rosa Mae Stewart Ganus. Mr. Ganus was a veteran of the United States Army having served from January 1962 - January 1964 in Panama. He attained the rank of Specialist 4th Class, and served in the JAG office while in Panama. He retired from Augusta Newsprint Company, where he worked as a Lab Technician for 35 years. Mr. Ganus was a member of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church, and was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step daughter, Sheila Wade Steverson; brothers, James Wright Ganus, and Robert O. Ganus; and his sister, Bebe Ann Ganus.
Mr. Ganus is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Beneteau Ganus, and two step-sons, Shawn G. Wade and Stephen E. Wade, both of Hopewell, VA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00pm, Monday, March 15th, 2010 at the funeral home.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Alderman officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery, 2501 Division St., Augusta, GA. 30912. Pallbearers will be William Carter, Steve Mason, Tom Rider, Ken English, Edwin Stephens, and Jerry Richardson. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Faith Sunday School Class.
Flowers are being accepted, however, memorial contributions may be made to Rosemont Heights Baptist Church Vision Fund, 710 Stone Ave. Waynesboro, GA. 30830.
