Sardis, GA - Mrs. Cindy Murrell Newsome left the living to be with our Lord and Saviour on February 18th, 2016, at 60 years young.
She was born September 23, 1955, to the late Franklin Roosevelt Murrell and Christine Gibson Jones in Greenville, South Carolina. Cindy devoted most of her life to serving people as a Registered Nurse with her heart belonging to the elderly. Throughout her life she spread true unconditional love and touched every soul she came in contact with. She loved to bring joy to those who surrounded her. Everyone who had the pleasure of being graced by her presence knew that she always came with a smile and a grand sense of humor. Cindy was a shining beacon of genuine compassion and selflessness. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt; her devotion to her family never faltered and extended beyond blood ties. She was known as "Mema" or "Aunt Cindy" to many children who grew up around her and even those who didn't.
She is survived by her husband, Allen Newsome; two sons, Wayne Scott Newsome of Sardis and Alan Shane Newsome of Sardis; four grandchildren, Alan, Brandon, Brandy, and Abby Grace; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Cadle of Sardis and Diannalynne Murrell of Beech Island, SC; one brother, Stephen Murrell of Hephzibah; a special niece that was raised as her daughter, Christy Long of Girard; and several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday, February 22 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 12 pm Tuesday, February 23 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Norsworthy, assisted by his wife Sharon Norsworthy, officiating.
