Dublin, GA- Charles E. McGregor, III, 76, entered into rest Monday, November 10, 2014. He was born on February 3, 1938 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. McGregor, Jr. of Girard. He retired from Georgia Power after serving as a Quality Control Specialist for Plant Vogtle for 13 years. Charles always enjoyed cattle farming which became a full time job after his retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, GA for over 30 years. As a member of Waynesboro FUMC, he served on the Administrative Board and various church committees and was a faithful member of the Scrap Gresham Sunday School Class. Within the community, he served as Supervisor of Briar Creek Soil and Water Conservation District and as Vice President of the Central Savannah River Area Resource Conservation and Development Council.After moving to Dublin to be near his family, he joined Pine Forest Methodist Church and the Ben F. Williams Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dixon McGregor.
He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Maurice F. McGregor; 4 children, Laurice Wilson (Bob) of Sandersville, GA, Charese Burton (Earl) of Chattanooga, TN, Charles E. McGregor, IV (Helen) of Madison, GA, and Jan McMichael (Chap) of Dublin, GA; 6 grandchildren, William Howard Burton, Sarah Louise Wilson, Catherine Elizabeth and Charles E. McGregor, V, Raines Charles and Thomas Eugene McMichael; his sister, Mary Yeomans of Evans, GA; an uncle, Ralph Dixon of Claxton, GA; devoted cousin, Joyce Kelly of Louisville, GA; and other special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the parlor of the First United Methodist Church Thursday, November 13, one hour prior to the service. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday, November 13 at the First United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, GA. Rev. Jimmy Cason, Dr. Joel Dent and Rev. H. Craig Hutto will officiate. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, GA. Pallbearers will be Larry Askew, Porter Cohen, Jim Curry, George DeLoach, Roy Jenkins, Grady Mobley, Tom Mobley, J.R. Keen, and Wayne Syms. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Scrap Gresham Sunday School Class, members of Briar Creek Soil and Water, CSRA Resource Conservation and Development council members, Bob Bolton, Preston Conner, Wayne Crockett, Allen DeLaigle, Von Forehand, Johnny Hight, Ivey McMillan, Kenneth Perry, L.V. Jenkins, Toby Lovett, G.T. Lord, and Greg Williams.
