Catherine Atkinson Petrea, entered into rest Thursday, February 2, 2017. She was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County. She was a member of the Waynesboro Church of God and attended South Haven Baptist Church. After 20 years, Catherine retired from Bilo and after her retirement, she worked for the Golden Pantry. She enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Albert Petrea, Jr.; her mother, Roxie Atkinson; her father, Willie Amerson; two sisters, Peggy Lucille Atkinson and Mary Simpson; and two brothers, Clarence Atkinson and James Atkinson.
She is survived by three daughters, Lynn Taylor and husband Eddie J. of Waynesboro, Jennifer Marshall and husband Charles of Waynesboro, and Susan Pardue and husband Michael of Evans; six grandchildren, Shannon Thompson and husband Dalton of Valdosta, Tr Marshall, Preston Taylor, Abigail Marshall, Kingston Taylor all of Waynesboro and Ragan Pardue of Evans; a sister, Virginia Allen and husband JT of Cornelia, GA; and a brother, Johnny Atkinson and wife Darlene of Matthews, GA.
The family will receive friends from 2:00pm-3:00pm Sunday, February 5 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 3:00pm Sunday, February 5 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Rochester officiating.
Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Michael Petrea, Matthew Petrea, Kevin Simpson, Keith Simpson, James Atkinson, Matthew Tyner, and Cole Lewis.
