Wadley, GA.- Mrs. Catherine Pate, died Sunday October 18, 2009 at Specialty Select Hospital in Augusta. Mrs. Pate was born in Waynesboro, Ga., but had lived in Wadley since 1995. She worked at Taylor's Drug Store in Waynesboro for many years. She was a secretary, and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur and Sallie Sikes, a brother: Jr. Sikes, and 3 sisters: Dorothy Vickery, Geneva Robinson, and Sandra Sikes.
Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Deloach-McKerley Funeral Home in Waynesboro, with Reverend Rusty Manning officiating. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro. Pallbearers will be: Travis Nunnally, Brian Nunnally, Mitchell Sikes, Glenn Fennel, Alvin Grams, and Dickey Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband: Russell E. Pate, Jr., of Wadley, Ga., daughter, Danette Highsmith of Waynesboro, Ga., son: Russell E. "Rusty" Pate III of Sardis, Ga., 3 grandchildren, John Daniel Highsmith, Emily Pate, and Russ Pate, 4 brothers: Billy Sikes of Waynesboro, Ga., John Mack Sikes of Augusta, Ga., Donnie Sikes of Waynesboro, Ga., and David Sikes of Madison, Al., and a sister, Dianne Nunnally, of Waynesboro, Ga.
Visitation will be Monday evening at Smith Funeral Home in Wadley, Ga., between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. and Tuesday evening at Deloach-McKerley Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Ga. between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m.
