Carl Wayne Thames "Tater", age 44, of Moore, Oklahoma, formerly of Alexander, Georgia entered into rest Thursday, June 14, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma.
He lived in Burke County, Georgia most of his life and had lived in Oklahoma for the last several years. He was a graduate of Burke County High School and was a member of Corinth Christian Church in Girard. Tater was an avid collector of Batman memorabilia.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J.C. Thames and Lucille Beasley Thames; maternal grandparents, J.D. Martin and Oveda Martin; and his beloved dog, Bailey.
Survivors include his partner of 16 years, Michael Thompson of Moore, Oklahoma; his father, Joseph C. Thames, Jr. "Smokey" (Linda) of Waynesboro; his mother, Martha Fuller (the late Larry Fuller) of Moore, Oklahoma; a brother, Joseph C. Thames, III "Beep" (Michele) of Waynesboro; a sister, Selina Riggs (Chris) of Girard; grandmother, Carrie Griffis of Starke, Florida; two nephews, Blayke Thames and Cruise Thames; four nieces, Taylor Thames, Julie Godbee, Bethany Godbee, and Shyann Riggs; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members. His family would like to extend a special thank you to the Thompson family in Moore, Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home at 1:00pm, Saturday, June 23, 2018.Reverend Matt Higle, pastor of Corinth Christian Church, will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
