Mr. Calvin Earl Saxon 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, December 12, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Saxon was born in Savannah, Georgia the son of Charles and Ada Saxon. He was a resident of Savannah and lived most of his life in Brooklet. He was a member of the Eldora Baptist Church. He served as, Deacon, Music Director and Sunday School Teacher with various churches; he was a member of the gospel music group, The Friendly Five, singing tenor and expressing his love for music. Mr. Saxon was a machinist for Union Bag in Savannah for many years before owning and operating Saxon Poultry Farm, supplying chicken's for Claxton Poultry for many years. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Lamar Cunningham Saxon.
Surviving are, his sons, Earl and Judy Saxon and Mike and Rosie Saxon; his grandchildren, Tommy and April Saxon, Shanna and Lee Gardner, Rob and Janifer Saxon, Jim and Katie Saxon, Michael and Jess Hood, Dana and Billy Haas; his great grandchildren, Faith and JT Garrett, Graceton Saxon, A'Ryan Gardner, Seth Gardner, Grace Gardner, Cal Saxon, Lucy Saxon, Hadley Saxon, Natalie Saxon, Kaylee Haas, Caroline Haas, Will Haas, Ashlee Hood, Ethan Hood and one great great granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Garrett. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Old Fellowship Baptist Church with the Reverend Scott Howard officiating with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Active Pallbearers will be Tommy Saxon, Rob Saxon, Jim Saxon, Michael Hood, Billy Haas and Lee Gardner.
Mr. Saxon will be remembered as a loving husband, Father, Grandfather, Great and Great Great Grandfather.
