Brenda Lairscy Lackman, 62, entered into rest Wednesday, June22, 2022. She was a native of Sylvania and a longtime resident of Burke County. She was a 1979 graduate of Hephzibah High School. She was a reader and member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Brenda loved her work serving as a paralegal for Attorney Brendan Fleming. She was a member of the UDC Great Great Great Grandaughters , Great Great Grandaughters, and was a past president of the Margaret Jones Chapter #27. She was past vice president and past director of Col. John James #939 Children of the Confederacy. Brenda was a past registar, past 3rd vice president, current treasurer, current 4th District Director, current 5th Director of the Georgia Division, and PR/PB Chairman of the Edmond Burke 3027 DAR of Waynesboro. She was past treasurer of the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII and a past junior members chair of the Reverend Pierre Robert Chapter GA 12 of Augusta. She was a former member of the Burke County Genealogical Society. Brenda was a reenactor and artillery trained licensed instructor. She has served as Alee Shrine Temple’s Chief Aid Lady and Deputy Chief Aid Lady; as well as, president and past president of the Waynesboro Ladies Auxiliary and president of the Augusta Ladies Auxiliary.
Brenda loved her family and friends, shopping, flowers, decorating, and traveling; but, staying home was fine too. She will be remembered. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe F. Lairscy; and brother-in-law, Paul Sexton.
She is survived by her husband, Frank E. Lackman, Jr.; two daughters, Christina Johnson (Brian) of Hephzibah and April Lackman of Augusta; four grandchildren; her mother, Sarah Boykin Rhodes (Tim) of Snead Ferry, NC; two sisters, Carolyn Sexton of Sardis and Nancy Taylor of Dallas, GA; a brother, Joe Lairscy of Sardis; four nephews; and her beloved dog, Lexie.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, June 23 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Friday, June 24 in the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection with Pastor David Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Active Pallbearers will be Tony Lewis, Bo Lewis, Johnny Lewis, Dave Armstrong, Tommy Nix, Paul Bennett, and Jody Ellison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Waynesboro Shrine Club, Ladies Auxiliary, and Margaret Jones Chapter #27.
