Bobby C.Jenkins, Sr., 69 years old, entered into the glorious presence of God on Thursday, September 22, 2016.
He was born on December 9, 1946, in Jenkins County, GA and was a life-long resident of Sardis, GA. He had an early career in Law Enforcement and retired from International Paper after 33 years of service.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Harry T. and Fannie E. Jenkins; one brother, Harry T. Jenkins, Jr.; two sisters, Carolyn Hamilton and Patsy Kulju.
He is survived by Barbara, his devoted wife of 41 years; two daughters Alicia (Bobby) Gully of Sylvania, GA, and Rhonda (Jerry) Fry of North Augusta, SC.; two sons Bobby C. Jenkins, Jr. (Sandy) of Sardis, GA, and Doug Jenkins (Lynn) of Hephzibah, GA; 14 grandchildren, 6 great - grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy W. Jenkins of Sardis, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bobby was devoted to his family showing love and compassion always wanting the best for them.He was a patient, kind, gentle and humble man with great character and integrity.Being a man of honor, he showed God's love with a generous joyful heart.All who knew him held him in high regard with great respect.
Bobby was a man of deep faith, committed to serving his Lord at Sardis Baptist Church as a Deacon, Deacon Chairman and Sunday School Teacher throughout the years.Additionally he was an active member of the choir, Men's Ministry and Community Food Pantry always willing to serve in any capacity.He was an executive committee member representative for the church to the Hephzibah Baptist Association.Because of his loving nature the presence of "Beautiful Bobby", as known by his church family, will be dearly missed. He was charming, gracious, and kind to all with a special love for children.Bobby was a loyal friend to his pastors, the epitome of a peacemaker.He was blessed with a true Barnabas like spirit, always demonstrating strength and calmness.
Bobby was highly devoted to serving in many fraternal organizations. Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, 2016, at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home in Waynesboro, GA from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Sardis Baptist Church in Sardis, GA on Monday, September 26, 2016, at 2:30 pm followed by a graveside service with Masonic Rites at the Jenkins Family Cemetery in Sardis, GA.Officiating will be Rev. Nick Bates, Senior Pastor, Sardis Baptist Church and Rev.Ken Nichols, former pastor.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Bennett, Chuck Burroughs, Ron Cawthon, JC Christy, Alvin Futch, Jimmie Mize, Dillard Quinn, Hubert Reddick, and Tom Tinley.
The Heaven Bound Agape Sunday School class, the Deacon Body of Sardis Baptist Church and members of the Order of the Eastern Star will serve as honorary pallbearers.
