Greens Cut Community - Mrs. Bobbie N. Hayes Odom, 83, widow of D. E. Odom, entered into rest after an extended illness, Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Brentwood Terrace Health Center.She was a member of Greens Cut United Methodist Church, The National Odom Assembly, The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and The United Daughters of American Colonists (DAC).Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Gene Odom; her parents, Grady and Nona Lowe Hayes; a sister, Wanette Hayes Williams; and a special nephew, Larry Paul Williams.
Survivors include her brother, Durwood Hayes and wife, Joyce; and two sisters, Edna Hayslip and Betty H. Oliver and husband, Rev. Tom Oliver.Although Mrs. Odom had no children of her own, she has many nieces and nephews that she helped raise that will miss her dearly.
Mrs. Odom worked many years at the Burke County Courthouse as Clerk for the County Commissioners and several years before her retirement as Deputy Assistant to Probate Judge Mary O. Herrington.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, at the funeral home.
The Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home.Rev. Tom Oliver will officiate.Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Odom's nieces and nephews.
