Bob Malabar Hickman, 82, of Waynesboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024. Born in Burke County on September 9, 1942, to the late Robert Lamar Hickman and Dora Mallard Hickman, Bob lived a life rooted in love for family, community, and hard work. Bob graduated from Sardis-Girard-Alexander High School. After graduation, he went to work with Mr. Frank Delaigle where he learned concrete and civil construction. Later he came to Augusta and went to work for Southern Road Builders. Bob dedicated his entire career in the field of civil construction where he earned the respect and friendship of many colleagues and business associates over the years.
Bob had an unwavering devotion to his family, always cherishing the close bond he shared with his siblings, children, and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed gathering with loved ones around the dinner table, where good food and laughter were always abundant.
Bob is proceeded in death by his parents, Robert Lamar Hickman and Dora Hickman; and three sisters; Charlotte Elliott, Donnie Hickman, and Freida Robinson.
He is survived by his three children whom he loved dearly, Bob Hickman Jr. (Fran) of Augusta, GA, Jennifer Hickman Neal (Chris) of North Augusta, SC, and Jessica Hickman Webb (Clint) of Boston, GA; five grandchildren, whom he adored, Davis Neal, Colin Neal, Felton Hickman, Reese Webb, and Henry Webb. He will also be missed by his loving brother, Terry Hickman (Alane) of Millen, GA; brother-in-law, Jerry Elliott of Girard, GA; former wife and friend, Patricia Parkerson Hickman; his dear friend, Marcelletta English; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00pm Thursday, December 26 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Max Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Robin Elliott, Wren Elliott, Hunter Elliott, Tyler Thompson, Henry Henderson, Drew Hickman, and Lawton Hickman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Alexander, Carl Jones, Willie Wooden, and Charlie Harris.
