Billy W. Register, Jr.

August 15, 1977 — October 24, 2018

Billy Wess Register, Jr., 41, of Waynesboro, GA, passed on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. He was a Lieutenant with the Burke County EMA, where he served as a firefighter/EMT and was a member of the dive team.

Billy loved life and lived it with great appreciation, always anticipating whatever each day would bring. Family and firefighting was his passion, his life; a part of his DNA. He was a loving husband, nurturing father, loyal friend and faithful servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He grew in wisdom and knowledge and learned to impart it with grace and love. Billy was the most gracious of hosts at all family and friend gatherings. He excelled as his caring outreach in both private and public settings. Faith, family, and friends were his top priority. He was a glamorous stud to his wife, strength and support to his children, and joy and laughter to his friends. Billy will be greatly missed but many but for those who loved him most: we bid you farewell sweet, sweet man.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie Vance Register; their three children, Ashley Dianne May and her husband, Tyler Eugene May, Megan Elizabeth Register, and William Alexander "Buddy" Register; mother, Dean Taylor (Lonnie); sister, Jamie Hadden (Jimmy); niece, Maleah Sherrod, granny, Nelle Kunkel; dad, Mike Kunkel; father and mother-in-law, Grady and Dianne Vance; two brothers-in-law, Grady Vance (Becky) and Richard Vance (Nicole); niece, Lexie Vance; two nephews, Noah and Jesse Vance; and grandma, Rickie Grierson. All uncles, aunts, and cousins, near and far, local and international may Peace and Blessings be with you.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saturday, October 27 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, October 28 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Grady Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give generously to one another in all manners of love, honor, respect, and care; remembering always the fragile nature of life, the fleeting reality of time, and the worthiness of all people, for your individual touch that only one person can grant another. Love Always.
