Waynesboro, GA - Betty Joe Lee, 73, affectionately known as the "Cake Lady", entered into rest on Monday, July 5, 2010, at Burke Medical Center.A daughter of the late Riley and Mary Strickland, she was born on March 25, 1937.She was a charter member of McBean Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Rufus E. Lee; infant son, Douglas Lee; sister, Rida Clark; and brother, James Strickland.

She is survived by two daughters, Teri Lee and Brenda Williamson (Dale), both of Waynesboro; two sisters, Phyllis Strickland and Gloria Brockington, both of Brunswick, GA; five grandchildren, Jeremy Tinley (Olivia), Joshua Tinley (Tammy), Brooke Williamson, Blake Williamson, all of Waynesboro, and Amanda Wesley of Canton, GA; seven great-grandchildren, J. T. Tinley, Cody Tinley, Kayla Tinley, Mary Blackmon, Tabatha Skinner, Tristen Hatcher, all of Waynesboro, and Austin Waller of Canton, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, at McBean Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Todd officiating.Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.
