Bessie Amerson Atkinson, 83, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 2, 2019, at her residence. She was born in Jefferson County and was a lifelong resident of Burke County. She was retired from Keller Manufacturing and was a member of the Calvary Tabernacle in Waynesboro.
She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn "Fatz" Atkinson.
Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca Tapley of Thomson; her son, John Travis Atkinson (Rhonda) of Waynesboro; her sister, Lucille Stewart of Jenkins County; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, August 5, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2019, in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Russell Folger officiating. Burial will follow in the Keysville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Keysville.
The family would like express a sincere thank you to Regency Hospice nurses, Jill Posey, Belinda Patterson, and her granddaughter, Latrisha Atkinson.
Active Pallbearers will be Shane Neal, Wayne Neal, Nicholas Atkinson, Andrew Medlin, John Atkinson, and Brandon Atkinson.
