Shell Bluff, GA - Benjamin (Ben Jr.) Shepherd Dickey, Jr., 61, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 in Shell Bluff, GA.

Ben was born Jan 6, 1950 in Millen, GA.After graduating high school, he served in the Navy for 4 years as a Communications Specialist achieving the rank of Petty Officer.He received a degree in Law Enforcement and began working for the Sheriff's Department in Contra Costa County, California.He worked as a manager of their Professional Standards and Training Unit.He was an avid photographer with the eye of an artist.His photos hang in every building of the Sheriff's Office occupied in Contra Costa.After retiring in 2001, he spent his days capturing the beauty of his Shell Bluff surroundings and nurturing his own natural paradise.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Dickey; children, Benjamin Shepherd Dickey III, Elizabeth Perez (Robert), Stacey Brown and Kyle Brown, Noelle Bolstad (Darren); grandchildren, Farris Dickey, Faisel Dickey, Kyliee Kikuyama, and Robert Perez Jr.; siblings, M. Thaxter Dickey (Wanda), Dennis L. Dickey (Wende), Angie Gifford (John), Lorene Dickey (Terry Brose); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Botsford Baptist Church, Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
