Waynesboro, GA -Mr. Avner Wayne DeLaigle, age 76, of Waynesboro "Telfair Community", husband of Carolyn Timmerman DeLaigle, entered into rest on Thursday, August 11, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He has been married to his childhood sweetheart for 58 years. He was a successful business man and avid gardener. Avner was a devout family man that loved nothing more than spending time with his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Jack DeLaigle and Mollie O. DeLaigle; his brothers, Fred H. DeLaigle and DeRossie DeLaigle, Sr.; and his beloved mother-in-law, Edna L. Timmerman.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; children, Michael DeLaigle and his wife Lori, Monda Smith and her husband Ricky, Marci Fulcher and her husband Garrett, and Mindi Mallard and her husband Chris; grandchildren, Nathan DeLaigle and his wife April, Brandi Holland and her husband Brian, Mark Smith and his wife Elizabeth, Chad Smith and his wife Lyndsay, Hannah Kloskey and her husband Mark, Joshua Harkins and his wife Heather, Brandon Sharpe (Grayson Robins), and Trevor Sharpe; great grandchildren, Ashton Barefield, Abigail DeLaigle, Brooklyn Holland, and Garner Kloskey; brother, Jack DeLaigle and his wife Mary; his identical twin, Allen DeLaigle and his wife Caroline; sisters-in-law, Genee D. Barnes, and Joan DeLaigle; brother-in-law, J. Benjamin Timmerman; three great grandchildren that are on the way; and many other family members.
The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm Saturday, August 13 at the funeral home. The celebration of his life will be 3pm Sunday, August 14 at Botsford Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Dann and Rev. Wayne Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family would like to thank everyone for your kindness, thoughtfulness, prayers, and most importantly Christ's love that has been expressed during this time. We have peace in knowing that he is in the presence of our Lord. We would also like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and entire staff of University Hospital for the loving care they have given to Daddy and our family in the recent time.
Flowers will be accepted; however, memorials may be made to Botsford Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
