Waynesboro, GA - Amanda "Loree" Price Taylor of Waynesboro died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 after an extended illness at Brentwood Terrace Health Facility.
Her funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. at Burkehaven Chapel with Garry Morgan and James Gay officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Burke Memorial Gardens.
Lovingly known as "mama" by her children and "Granny Taylor" by her grandchildren, she was born July 25, 1928 In Gilbert, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James K. and Sallie Price of Gilbert, S.C., her husband of 50 years, J.W. Taylor, and grandson, Timothy James "Jamie" Taylor, and brothers, Grady Lee Price, Jefferson C. Price, Seth Price and James Loren "Joe" Price, and a sister, Magdalene Price Metts.
She is survived by her four children, Sheldon Lafaye (Clyde) Taylor, Harry Edward "Eddie" (Bonnie) Taylor, all of Waynesboro, Patsy Taylor (Don) Sheffield of Martinez and James Willard (Tena) Taylor of Blythe; grandchildren, Harry Edward (Kim) Taylor Jr. of Waynesboro, Amy Sheffield (Jeffrey) Benton of North Augusta, S.C., and Keri Leigh Sheffield of Martinez; great grandchildren, Codey Justus (Heather) Taylor of Jackson, S.C., Alanha Katelyn Taylor of Graniteville, S.C., Jacie Nicole Taylor, Timothy James Taylor II, Cameron Nicholas Chalker and Audora LeeAnn Chalker, all of Waynesboro, Emily Taylor Benton, Chase Allen Benton, Bryson Jeffrey Benton, all of North Augusta, S.C.; great-great grandchildren Addison Rae Taylor of Jackson, S.C., and Trenton Ryan Conaway of Graniteville, S.C., and a sisters-in-law Carolyn Price of Gilbert, S.C., and Dorothy "Dot" Taylor of Leesville, S.C., and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Taylor was faithful in attending meetings at Burkehaven Chapel since it began in 1955, and her life was an example of her faith in Christ. She worked for Brown Transport for many years before it relocated to Atlanta and First National Bank of Waynesboro as a teller for 20 years.She loved vegetable gardening and spent many summer hours harvesting and sharing the fruits of her labor with family and friends. She will be remembered for the many fish frys held at her home spoiling her loved ones and guests by preparing additional special foods, making sure everyone had what they wanted even if it wasn't planned for the menu.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Harry Edward Taylor Jr. and Jeffrey Benton, great grandsons, Codey Taylor, T.J. Taylor II, Cameron Chalker, and Samuel Timothy Kelly.
