Allen Byne DeLaigle, 80, entered into rest Sunday, March 15, 2020. He was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County and was a son of the late Mollie and Captain Jack DeLaigle. He was a graduate of SGA. Allen was a member of Botsford Baptist Church and retired from Augusta Newsprint. He served as a county commissioner from 2009-2019 and was chairman from 2017-2019. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred DeLaigle, DeRossie DeLaigle, and his twin, Avner DeLaigle.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Caroline D. DeLaigle; six children, Tamara Hodges (Troy) of TX, David Eric Calvert of Waynesboro, Penny DeLaigle of Augusta, Kelly Roe (Steve) of FL, Alana Dickey (Mike) of Waynesboro and Allen B. DeLaigle, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren, Sheena Gavlinski, Ansleigh Dickey, Madison Dickey, Jackie Roe, Jayden Roe, Karis DeLaigle, and Kolden DeLaigle; one great granddaughter, Kayleigh Elliott; and a brother, Jack DeLaigle (Mary) of Marietta.
The family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm Tuesday, March 17 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 2pm Wednesday, March 18 at Botsford Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Dann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike DeLaigle, DeRossie DeLaigle, Jr., Jay DeLaigle, Ricky Smith, Bill Lively, and Ernest Quick. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Brigham, Robert Hickman, Grady Mobley, Merv Waldrop, Alfonzo Williams, Lewis Blanchard, and the Burke County Board of Commissioners.
Remembrances may be made to the Center for New Beginnings or Botsford Baptist Church.
