A. Louis Abbott

Waynesboro, GA – Mr. A. Louis Abbott, age 90, died Tuesday, September 22, 2015.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 24th at First Baptist Church in Waynesboro. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Dr. G. Al Wright, Jr. and The Reverend Dr. Gary L. Abbott, Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.

Louis was born on October 16, 1924, in Waynesboro to the late Clarence Leo and Lizzie Norris Abbott. He was married to the late Viola Kingston Abbott for 70+ years. He was a veteran of World War II and was an active member of the American Legion Post 120. Louis was a charter member of the Waynesboro Exchange Club and served on the Waynesboro City Council. He was the former owner of A & W Oil Company, Inc. Louis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waynesboro, where he was a Deacon and a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pansy Abbott Agerton.

He is survived by three children, The Rev. Dr. Gary L. Abbott, Sr. (Billie) of Hawkinsville, Linda Abbott Hargrove (David) of Waynesboro, and Cindy Abbott Blount (Ashton) of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, G. Louis Abbott, Jr. (Jana) of Macon, Russell W. Abbott (Tiffany) of Christiansburg, VA, Catherine Hargrove Lewis (Lee) of Waynesboro, Caroline Hargrove Blackburn (Jason) of Waynesboro, Carl Ashton Blount, IV (Elizabeth) of Athens, and Lanier Abbott Blount of Key West, FL; and a brother-in-law, Frank Agerton. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 853 North Liberty Street, Waynesboro, GA 30830
